Re: Botox used to ease pelvic pain
From what I have read in other forums, there are severe risk of spasms of other muscles, compensating the one which was injected by Botox. So you might shift your pain some inches further or otherwise complicate havoc in your pelvis. But CPPS might be so devastating condition that I understand peopl...

Re: Article in Mens Health
Pretty good description on the layman level what's going on...And the relatively sudden onset is also typical.... If I only knew that my pelvis is so endangered I would stretch every day...before the onset.

Re: Dynamic Contraction Technique DCT Therapy thread
Yes, Mark, but they are not referring to press those "knots" for 30-60 seconds as usual etc....you cannot heal trigger points ("muscle knots") by mere stretching...

Re: Dynamic Contraction Technique DCT Therapy thread
There might be some reasoning behind their methodology, but I feel it is more "sportsman oriented" or how to say it...
Two questionable things in their approach: dismissal of trigger points (they are proven to be real) and unclear mental part of the regimen...

Re: Pelvic floor therapy effective for most CPPS patients
Unfortunately the article is rather general, delivering very few new things and nothing which can be labeled as a break through. We all know that amongst the abysmal record of various CPPS remedies, the PT is one of the better ones. There are 2 major tasks within this field: 1. to make urologists mo...

Re: Male Pelvic Pain: Beyond Urology
"pelvic floor muscle dysfunction, Myofascial pain syndromes, Functional Somatic Syndrome/Central Sensitization Syndromes and/or psychosocial distress" - these are the key components of our suffering. I gave up visits to two of my urologists who were completely laymen in these areas...My PT...

Re: Extracorporeal shock-wave therapy and CPPS
I tried this modality in 2012, but unfortunately after 1st session it inflicted huge flare-up, so I abandoned further treatment. I consider this approach too risky, there is a lot of delicate structures in the pelvis to be targeted with shock waves.

Re: F-act Pelvic Pain Clinic the Netherlands, my experience
I basically agree with both of you, Lupita and Alphalifestyle. Pudendal nerve is a part of this havoc, surely it is one of the prominent channels how our pain is transmitted, but rarely is a sole culprit. True PNE does exist, but is very rare and improbable in cases like ours. Other nerves are also ...

Re: The Coming Debate Over Treatment
Interesting reading, I can agree with most of the texts above. CPPS is clearly multidimensional enemy with various clinical manifestations and diffuse clinical pictures. Exactly this diffuse nature is what is making a kind of distrust between the doctor (mainly urologist) and the patient..helplessne...

Re: Catastrophizing and coping behaviors determine mental quality of life for CPPS patients
Sure, catastrophizing is one of the most challenging aspects of long term CPPS. It is not easy to find coping strategies because I think it is only a matter of time when, during a bad flare-up, you are overwhelmed by feelings of guilt, helplessness and hopelessness. I get the feeling that you cannot...
