Have IBS? Get Tested For SIBO

Post by abcdef »

If you've been diagnosed with IBS, you may actually have something called Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO). This essentially means that you may have elevated levels of hydrogen, methane or hydrogen sulfide in your small intestine. The good news is that it's possible to treat SIBO with herbal antimicrobials, pharmaceutical antibiotics, etc. Just thought I'd drop this tidbit of information since I see the term IBS being thrown around quite a bit, but not SIBO.

I myself went from having to go to the bathroom 4-5 times per day to an average of once per day with much more healthy looking stools. I happened to have a rather mild case and responded very well to a course of herbal antimicrobials.

As you probably know, a lot of these conditions like IBS and UCPPS are connected. Inflammation of the organs themselves can be the culprit for myofascial trigger points. Just some food for thought.

Most GI doctors are absolutely worthless when it comes to SIBO. You may want to find a GOOD naturopath who is heavily experienced in this field.

Dr. Mark Pimentel is one of the leading researchers in this field. Here's a very brief YouTube video that goes over SIBO:

Age: 29| Onset Age: 27| Symptoms: | Helped By: Stretching, myofascial release, 2.5 - 5 mg daily tadalafil (Cialis), hot baths, sauna, quercetin| Worsened By: Long periods of sitting, stress| Other comments:
