Forum and website may close permanently

Update March 2025: the site has now received enough donations to keep it online until March 2026.

At the end of 2024, after nearly 30 years¹, the forum closed to new posts and registrations, and I opened it to the general public as free access.

Unless a suitable source of funding is found, I have decided to PERMANENTLY CLOSE THE WEBSITE and take it offline.

The reason for the end of the website is that it's simply not paying its way anymore. Donations have stopped, and I'm not willing to carry it financially. It costs about $300 per year to keep the site online (domain registration, hosting fees, hours or labor spent upgrading the forum software to keep it up to date and free from security holes), so unless some angel investor/s or generous donors step forward via PayPal (link at bottom of page), this is the end.

The site has helped tens of thousands of men over the years, but all good things eventually come to an end. Thank you to all those who donated in the past and the handful of men who volunteered as moderators over the years.

I received this email today, attached to a donation, one of many such messages I have received over the years. I usually keep them private but this one was more direct and expressive than most, so I'll share it here:

Your website has helped me at some of my lowest times. I have never posted because I used my real name but thank you so so so so much, you are doing god's work and I suspect you have saved many from doing something silly.

Somehow this makes it all worthwhile for me!
