NEJM study shows shocking news

When you go to the doctor, you'd like to feel good about the treatment you're about to get, right? You want it to be accurate and beneficial. But a study in the New England Journal of Medicine has some shocking news that is causing quite a bit of controversy. Only about half of the time you go to the doctor are you going to get the proper treatment, the journal states. The study looked at the medical records of 7,000 people from 12 cities around the country. It's one of the most thorough looks ever at medical care based on what was wrong with the patient versus the treatment provided. And, repeatedly, patients were not given the proper diagnoses or treatment. According to the study, when people walked in with heart trouble, 40 percent of the time they were not treated properly. Diabetics were treated improperly 75 percent of the time. The existing system doesn't work, so it's up to us to ask questions and tell the doctor about our medical histories. Also, you must get second opinions. It's imperative these days.

And this is why this website is so useful. Taking care of yourself is the key.
