This paper shows that the concept of a muscular origin of chronic pelvic pain is not limited to a few people like Wise and Weiss, but is widely studied and accepted:

Thank you for posting that link. It was very enlightening to me. Does anyone know of any other links or papers on myofascial pain. It would be of great help to me and I'm sure others.

and type in the exact query:

There are some fascinating results there. :P
