Anderson at Stanford. Not sure if he still sees patients on a regular basis though.

Try Dr. Jerome Weiss in SF. He accepts Cigna PPO (or at least did as of early this year).

I would not go to Dr. Weiss. He gave me an injection of cortisone and lidocaine that really impacted my sexual function in a negative way. He injected my perineum. I had inflammation in my anal and rectal area and the injection relieved these symptoms, but for whatever reason he chose to inject me in the perineum. Cortisone is indicated for inflammation I had neither pain, inflammation, triggerpoints or spasms in my perineum. I filed a complaint with the American Medical Association to no avail. He will try and get you on a progressive schedule to milk you -- an exam, trigger point injections, an appointment with his in house physical therapist, an ointment to address your symptoms, and then it was cortisone which he never talked about as an option until the day he administered it.

I had the opposite experience with Dr. Weiss. I've seen about 20 doctors (pain management specialists, urologists, gastroenterologists, internists, an ID doctor and a colorectal surgeon) and he was -- by far -- the most knowledgeable and compassionate doctor I saw. He took the time to answer my questions, demonstrated a genuine interest in staying in touch with me regardless of whether I came back to see him or not and was even somewhat responsive via email (I don't live in SF).

He performed many trigger point injections on me (marcaine only, no steroids), and I must say that these were super helpful in reducing my pain. He also did internal work, specifically targeting the obturator internus, and I felt that this helped out as well.

Overall, I was very happy with my multiple (3-4) visits to his office. I would suggest going into the appointment with quite a bit of knowledge already about CPPS. I found that he was most helpful in aiding me in sorting through the complicated treatment questions I had that no other doctor could answer.
