New Jersey Urologist

Post by walla71 »

I have yet to be diagnosed with anything except for one urologist saying that it may be mild prostatitis. I'm looking for a Urologist knowledgeable in chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome in Northern New Jersey/New York City. Thanks.

Your best bets are Dr. Robert Moldwin in Long Island, or Dr. David Kaufman in NYC. Both have good reputations here on the forums (you can run a search on their names to get reviews / contact info), though I've probably heard a bit more feedback on Moldwin.

Fortunately, New York isn't lacking for choices in pelvic floor PTs, either.
I am not a physician. This is not medical advice. Consult your doctor!

Diagnosis: Pelvic floor dysfunction, degenerated lumbar disk, and mildly herniated lumbar disk. Helped By: Physical therapy, pain management doctor, hot baths, therapy pool, stretching regimen, breathing exercises, relaxation, distraction. Worsened By: Arousal/ejaculation (worst), constipation, panicking/obsessing, other triggers depend upon current symptoms. I found David Kaufman to be pleasant at the start, but then he became irritated that I would not do a hydro dystension or take Elmiron (sp) for IC. He does refer to PT which is good. Note that treating this condition in New York, where every session or visit is expensive can bankrupt an individual.

I don't agree that New York has many PT's who know what they are doing. Many are learning on your 250 dollars a session.

I am currently seeing Dr. Robert Moldwin at LIJ on Long Island. He's great, but very busy and hard to get follow-ups with.

I was also very pleased with Dr. Matthew Rutman out of Columbia Univeristy in New York City. He is a urologist and very versed in CPPS.

I have not found any urologists that match them in Northern NJ.
