Age:33 | Onset Age:19 | Symptoms:burning urethra, deep sore stinging around the perineum, dribbling | Helped By:when flare starts deep relaxing over a toilet to let out dribbling urine, hot bath, rubbing a heat cream on the perineum, Tens with a pad on the perineum, running, medication (solpadol) for pain. Current treatment: PT. | Worsened By:sitting, stressing over it, ejaculation, sometimes alcohol but I risk it. Been feeling a lot better last 6 months about 85% with a few flares lasting about 5 days. No longer having PT. Stretching every other night and I believe time is also a big factor for me

Vodka tonics seem to be fine with me as well. I still only try to have 1 or 2 a month now. If even that....

Age, 44 onset age 37 Feb 2006 Freq. need to urinate. Sensation of having to urinate soon after going. Perineum discomfort/burning/tightness, pubic area discomfort @ times, poor urine stream, post urine dripping/spray. All symptoms have improved with my protocol. At the worst I give it a 1 to 2 on irritation and discomfort and frequency. Helps: Elavil 5mg for anxiety and mast cell protection, (will only take it as needed) self internal PT as needed, stretching, walking, stairmaster cardio workout and light weights, reducing stress, moment to moment relaxation, deep breathing relaxation and using a Theracane. Makes worse: sitting for long periods, stress, over focusing on it. Currently 95%-98% recovered. Stay positive, relaxed and control your anxiety.

I got hammered last night watching the football. So close and yet so far!

No real ill effects today other than a dicky tummy and a pounding head.

The difference maybe, at least for me, no sugars in soda water, its just water and carbonation. Tonic is full of sugars. I prefer not to add anymore calories when I drink.

Scoobs,

I think that's a good point about the tonic. I might have to try vodka soda with a splash of lime.

Stick with Vodka's that are potato based rather than wheat based. Its usually the expensive stuff that is potato, eg Kettle One. Almost all liqours other than tequila have wheat/gluten/

With me, I am wheat intolerant so the choice of vodka is huge. Also, tonic is a killer. Not sure why, but soda is always safe.

Notice the new drink of choice for most people is Vodka and soda. I think wheat intolerance is more prevalent than most people think.
Age: 44 | Symptoms: Pain in pelvis, Post urination drip. Helped by: Squat stretching, PT, Prelief before banned foods, Vit B, Cystoprotec AFTER foods, singulair after foods, Exercise. what is about Vodka though? Every other alcoholic drink causes me irritation or flares. Vodka up to now nothing :?:

Maybe next time

read Richie's post I think he has explained it. And as I pointed out dont do tonic, do soda water with a lime. The drink is quite dry and refreshing, like a good beer it grows on you with time.

Good Luck

Vodka has the lowest level of congeners of any alcoholic drink. That's why it is considered to be the "cleanest" alcohol, and the least likely to cause hangovers.

I cannot tolerate any form of alcohol because I have an intolerance to fungi (molds and yeasts). YMMV.

You could if you like pretty much straight vodka, I prefer a bit more of a drink. If I ever take a shot though, I ask for vodka, clean and crisp.
