IC/BPS updates 2022

Post by webslave »

Interestingly, urticaria and Bladder Pain Syndrome are linked

In patients with interstitial cystitis or bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS), 85% were found to have pelvic floor myofascial pain and hypertonicity. However, physicians are not typically trained to consider or assess these factors as contributing to patients' IC/BPS symptoms.

There is a strong correlation between past trauma and the development of interstitial cystitis, as well as a much higher incidence of PTSD in patients diagnosed with IC

And for UCPPS more generally: stress linked to LUTS (lower urinary tract symptoms)
