New treatment that works! -- Info for newcomers

Post by TK »

Welcome! You have finally arrived at a place where you will find credible, trustworthy information.

The good news is that the condition -- variously called "Prostatitis" or "CPPS -- Chronic Pelvic Pain Syndrome" being successfully treated by a addressing 1) problems of the pelvic floor musculature and 2) Inflammation.

See: viewtopic.php?p=3045

This is not going to "cure" everyone. But it does cover a good proporition of the cases that would have been considered mysterious not long ago. To put it another way, the "missing link" has been identified.

Many people have contributed to the solution over time, but right now the focus of progress is a protocol pioneered at Stanford University.

Here is a summary about the book-- entitled "A Headache in the Pelvis" that describes the Stanford Approach
https://www.ucpps.men/the-wise-anderson-protocol

At present (Oct 2003) the book is sold out and is being reprinted. I would advise you to get it and read it, but -- even without the book -- you can find out what you need to know and start working toward getting better.

An attempt to describe this approach to treatment in a little more detail:

And, while it may take some work to find the treatment in your region, you can probably find a way to do this. This treatment is not one of those things that you necessarily must travel far to find.

And-- as mentioned in previous "detail" -- many of the things that you do involve self-treatments such as gentle stretching excercises and learning to first identify, then relax the pelvic floor muscles.

Many doctors are not yet aware of this. For complex historical reasons, this set of conditions is one that many urologists treated dismissively or in a half-way manner. It's disappointing that, even now, these urologists are not aware of actual causes of the condition and new treatments that work. But this is changing quickly.

This is important basic information:

There is a wealth of information on this forum

Start browsing the "Success Stories" sections as well "Muscle Spasm" and "Supplements". Many, but not all of the supplements deal with some aspect of inflammation. You will want to learn how inflammation works and how you can safely and steadily reduce it over a period of months.

Also see the associated Website. Much detailed information here

Good post. As far as my https://www.ucpps.men website goes, I have to admit that it is getting a little out of date now, and needs a major overhaul in light of all the new information. I need to re-orient it around pelvic myoneuropathy.

But I'm not sure I have the time and energy any more :frowns:
