Hi all,
I am dealing with chronic constipation caused by my PFD, and it really serves to agitate the condition. My physical therapist is working with me to get this under control. I thought that I'd pass along some dietary suggestions she had, in the event that they may be of use to someone ...
The first is a recipe. 1/2 cup unprocessed oat or wheat bran, 1/2 cup applesauce, 1/4 cup prune juice. Mix together and start with 2 tablespoons daily followed by at least 6 ounces of water. This keeps for about a week, and you can gradually increase to 4 tablespoons daily. This is high in fiber, so it might cause gas and bloating, but that should resolve in 1-2 weeks.
Anyhow. She's big on solving this stuff naturally if possible, and some particular items she suggested ... Organic ground flax seed, Barlean's fish oil (tastes like citrus), and unprocessed oat or wheat bran (she likes Bob's Red Mill Wheat Bran).
Obviously, those of you with certain allergies can't try all of the above, but maybe someone else out there can!

Re: Info for Constipation
You may have IBS. IBS is associated with CPPS, and may even be one of the chief triggers in some people. IBS has several different subtypes, one of which is constipation-dominant (IBS-C).

I've always believed so, but I'm not so sure at the moment! The fact is, I do not have a very good diet. It's not that I'm downing lard and fried stuff all day, but my intake of roughage (fruits, vegetables, etc) is very low.webslave wrote:You may have IBS. IBS is associated with CPPS
