Diet Ideas

Post by strobers »

Diet is a huge component of IC/CPPS and I personally think it's one of the most important things we can change for the betterment of our health. Not just our IC/CPPS symptoms, but for the betterment of our entire body and immune system. This is what I typically eat every day. I thought it might be beneficial for those who are having a hard time eating healthy, don't know what to eat, or are coming to a realization that your bladder may also be another source of your problem and you want to address it by changing your diet.

The only condiments/spices I use are salt (sparingly) garlic (cooked) and onions (cooked). 90% of what I eat is organic. I mainly drink filtered water and organic milk.

If you are wheat/gluten free, then modify or omit.

Breakfast: plain oatmeal, whole wheat toast with butter, waffles with butter and molasses, warm milk with raw honey (if I'm flaring) beans/rice bowl, beans/rice/chicken bowl, rice/cashew nuts bowl.

Lunch: steamed veggies with butter, steamed veggies with olive oil, steamed veggies with coconut oil, chicken, salmon patties, steak, beans/rice bowl, beans/rice/chicken bowl, ground beef/rice bowl, ground beef/rice/beans bowl, ground beef/eggs bowl, chicken soup with cauliflower and broccoli, salmon patties wrapped in lettuce.

Dinner: Pretty much what I would eat for lunch, but bigger portions and I add a pear. I might also put the "bowl" dishes into a whole wheat tortilla.

Dessert: I treat myself to an organic vanilla ice-cream every week or so. If I'm at a Starbucks or with friends who want to have coffee at some similar establishment I order hot milk with vanilla. It's delicious.

Absolute No-No's (for me anyway)
  • Coffee
  • Sodas of any kind
  • Acidic foods
  • Tomato based products
  • Pepper
I also take Pre-lief with anything questionable and at home always eat standing up.

Hope this is helpful for some of you.

Your diet is full of wheat, gluten and milk products, all of which cause me problems. They are also common allergens. The fact that your diet has dairy products with every meal suggests to me that you may be intolerant to these products and addicted to them (intolerance causes addiction, see the Brostoff book on food intolerances).

Webslave, like I said, if a person is intolerant to wheat or gluten omit. I'm getting myself tested in the next couple of weeks for allergies both by a regular allergist doctor and a non-MD doctor who is going to analyze my hair and a few other things, but I've never had issues with any of the foods you mentioned. Also, I made a list of foods I eat for breakfast lunch and dinner, but I mix them up to keep a balance. They aren't eaten at the same time. These are suggestions for people who eat crappy food of which many here on the boards still do.

My suggestions are based mainly on the IC diet, which benefits the majority of people who have bladder issues, IC, chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome or otherwise. If a person thinks they are allergic to wheat/gluten or anything else for that matter, they should be tested for it and of course avoid these foods.

Today I have had a perfect 24 hours thus far. Not one symptoms of anything. My protocol works for me.

Good for you, Strobers! That's what counts.

I'm actually going to have to add a few things from your diet into my own. Constipation is a big issue of mine, and my therapist would really like to see me contribute to fixing that in terms of what I'm eating.
I am not a physician. This is not medical advice. Consult your doctor!
