Gluten blood testing

Post by Richie »

Just got my blood tests back. Negative on wheat, oats, coffee, etc all the stuff that bugs me. However, very positive grasses, eg bermuda grass and some dust mites?

No clue. All I know is when I have wheat it hurts like hell and then the runs come. I thinnk the reality is you can be very intolerant to something and still have negative tests.

All that said, I believe grasses and wheat are very similar and chemically related. As I recall, webslave had the same type positive with grasses but not wheat.

If you know it's bad for you then don't do it. Sod the blood tests.

Important post from Richie. I too was negative for celiac disease but can provoke a complete return to chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome with sustained wheat and gluten consumption. I can go from no symptoms to pretty sick in a month eating wheat. I am also reactive to grasses, dust mites and molds.

So if you get the runs from wheat, as Richie and I do, look out. :agree:

I'm curious about people's thoughts on the ALCAT test. I understand the problems with skin-prick and RAST tests - they often overlook food intolerance and really only score for true "allergy" - the ALCAT test seems unique, and has been shown to have good efficacy by Dr. Brostoff and others - anyone tried this test? Thoughts?

Thanks guys!
