Histamine a player in bladder pain

Post by webslave »

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31790304

In summary, histamine (associated with mast cells and allergy) inside the bladder may sensitise nerves to bladder distension and cause increased signalling to the central nervous system.
This hypersensitivity translates to increased sensory input and activation in the spinal cord, which may underlie the symptoms of bladder hypersensitivity and pain experienced in IC/BPS.
