Hmm okay, that makes sense. I do think it was an atypical patient, as they mention that even in the CPPS subgroup for whom infection is the initiating factor, this was the exception rather than the rule.
Gotta control my catastrophic thinking

Re: Infection can set off CPPS
You're totally right Alprost. I was on six different antibiotics before the infection went away (five weeks). How about you? WEBSLAVE, hoping you can clarify something from the article. I read the full study and was a bit confused. It seems as though they extracted an E.Coli strain from a CPPS patie...

Re: Smith Urology Institute
Hmm, this is interesting. I also wonder about the rectal medications. Think they're talking about suppositories of some kind?

Re: Seattle area urologists and therapists
GM,
I am thinking about trying Botox for CPPS, and was wondering if you've tried it yet. One thing I can say is that Botox completely cured my levator ani syndrome (unfortunately, I acquired an infection from the injection, which led to my pelvic pain).

Re: Dr. Kaufman, NYC "Central Park Urology", any expie
Beyond Basics was about $90 for me after my insurance had reimbursed me at my out-of-network rate. From what I remember, I think they charge $150 an hour for cash patients. I know it's pretty expensive, but honestly they're really damn good. I think it's worth it. I don't know too much about Dr. Mol...

Re: Dr. Kaufman, NYC "Central Park Urology", any expie
Hmm, can you provide some more info on your situation, KLS? I think the best doctor in the NYC area is Robert Moldwin out on Long Island (New Hyde Park). It can be difficult to get an appointment with him, but I've been led to believe he's one of the best. Have you done PT in NYC? I HIGHLY recommend...

Re: Seattle area urologists and therapists
I've heard good things about the Urology department at UW. Not sure about specific people, but I remember reading an academic article on chronic prostatitis / chronic pelvic pain syndrome that had one or two of its members as the authors. Sorry I can't remember the names.

Re: Doctors in SF Bay Area?
I had the opposite experience with Dr. Weiss. I've seen about 20 doctors (pain management specialists, urologists, gastroenterologists, internists, an ID doctor and a colorectal surgeon) and he was -- by far -- the most knowledgeable and compassionate doctor I saw. He took the time to answer my ques...

Re: Doctors in SF Bay Area?
Try Dr. Jerome Weiss in SF. He accepts Cigna PPO (or at least did as of early this year).
